Dr. Athanasios Lioumpas was born in Thessaloniki, capital of Macedonia, Greece in June 1982. He received his diploma in 2005 and his Ph.D degree in 2009, both in Electrical Engineering, from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. In 2010, he joined the University of Piraeus, where he is currently a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Digital Systems. From 2005 to present he has been involved in 4 international research projects, having collaborated with the Research Committee of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the National Observatory of Athens. He has published 24 scientific articles in international journals and conferences (20 IEEE-refereed publications), while he has been granted 5 patents. He is co-recipient of the Best Paper Award of the Wireless Communications Symposium (WCS) in IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC'07), Glasgow, UK, June 2007.
Dr. Lioumpas is a reviewer for several international journals, including IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, ΙΕΕΕ Communications Letters, IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and IEE Electronics Letters. Moreover, he has served as a technical program chair in several international conferences (M-CCN 2007, M-CSE 2007, MIC-CSC 2008, 33rd IEEE Sarnoff Symposium 2010).
